Have you ever had the realization that sometimes we are our own biggest limitation? We make excuses and we push things away because we are scared. Scared we are making the wrong decision, taking the wrong steps, or just not living up to unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves. Why do we do this to ourselves????
It’s time to stop. It’s time to realize we are works in progress. Beautiful works in progress and we will make mistakes, things won’t always turn out the way we want them to, but that doesn’t stop us from trying or from learning.
We don’t need to wait to be perfect before we do something. We just need to be open to the possibility of being better than we were the day before, or the minute before. Things might be awkward and uncomfortable, but that’s preparing you to appreciate your future abilities.
Two weeks ago, we hosted the most amazing group of women at our shoppe for a painting class. It was fun, it was messy and we laughed a lot.
Here’s the truth bomb: I walked away from a 10+ year career in teaching, took a giant leap of faith and opened a shop with my mestie (mom-bestie). …And then I missed teaching. I questioned myself and vascilated between being proud of myself for following a dream and also being really mad at myself for walking away from another dream. In fact, most days I feel like this:
While it wasn’t my first time teaching a paint class, it was amazing! It felt SO good to be back teaching! Teaching is a gift, connecting with my customers/students is fun and I love it. All that being said, I wanted to mention a few opportunities to come connect with us and we can learn together.
On Saturday, September 15 at 10am, you can become an artist. You don’t need any experience! Trust me, if my five year old daughter can do it, so can you! Besides, it will be fun!! Fall is here and it’s time to create your own oil painting of an apple to put up on an easel in your kitchen and admire for years to come. This class is perfect for the beginner as well as seasoned artists that just want to learn different techniques. Grab a friend and come relax with us, a paint brush, and some canvas. The cost is $50 and you will leave with your masterpiece, inspired knowledge and a few extra paint brushes to get your artist on at home.
Here is a picture of the painting we will be creating. You are in control of the colors. We might even have a few mimosas available so you really feel like you can take artistic liberty in creating the masterpiece you deserve! This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the way you look at it.

Pretty impressive, huh? Anybody can do it. The class is taught by our resident artist, Suzette Heeres. She does beautiful work and her use of colors is simply stunning. Again, you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to try and have fun!
Ever look around your work space or home and just want something beautiful to calm you, help relieve stress, lift your mood and help you boost your creativity? Then join us for our terrarium make and take. You’ll sip mimosas as you learn about how to care for air plants. You’ll leave with a beautiful oasis to place in your home or workspace that you created!
This class is September 22 from 10:00am-10:30. You’ll leave with a complete sand terrarium including an air plant, and a few other “toppings” of your choosing. It’s fun to get your creative juices flowing. We think you’ll leave inspired and rejuvenated. Grab a friend and come hang with us! $18
If you are interested in reserving your spot in either of these two workshops, please call the shoppe at 231-903-6995 to pay by credit card; or send us an email and we can send you an invoice. Please join us and we can be a work in progress together.
